FIXED WING GRAVITY AND MAGNETICS
NRG’s Xtract™ gravity and magnetic system is designed for high-resolution, airborne basin mapping and regional exploration. Utilizing a slow-flying Pilatus PC-6 aircraft and precision GT gravimeters housed in a patented thermal control unit, Xtract™ excels in frontier petroleum environments. With over 500,000 km of survey experience, it delivers accurate, repeatable results for seismic planning and volcanic basin delineation in the most challenging terrains.
Key features of the Xtract™
system include:
High-Precision
GT Gravimeter
Features a Schuler-tuned 3-axis platform with vertical-only sensing to minimise contamination from horizontal accelerations and ensure superior gravity data accuracy.
Patented Thermal
Controlled Unit
NRG has patented a thermal control unit which reduces unwanted non-linear drift from the GT2A. All standard gravimeters have various degrees of instrument drift and the GT2A is no exception. This drift can create interpretation errors when dealing with long wavelength gravity data. Extensive inhouse testing isolated the source of the drift being temperature related and the thermal control unit and enclosure which virtually eliminates this problem has been patented and implemented in all our systems.
Gyro-Stabilised
Sensor Orientation
Uses gyros, inclinometers, and dual-frequency GPS to maintain vertical alignment and heading, critical for accurate gravity measurements during flight.
Slow-Flying
Aircraft Platform
Pilatus Porter PC-6 aircraft enables high-resolution data capture by flying at reduced speeds, which directly enhances gravity resolution.
Versatile Terrain
Capability
Operates from rough, short, and unprepared airstrips, including high-altitude and remote locations in all climates, for full survey access.
Improved Resolution
and Accuracy
Provides over 30% better gravity resolution than standard survey aircraft, supported by oversampling and spectral filtering techniques.
Integrated Gravity
and Magnetics
Combines gravity data with high-resolution magnetics for powerful structural interpretation and regional geological mapping.
Proven
Performance
Over 500,000 line kilometers of airborne gravity surveys completed globally, validating Xtract™ as a trusted exploration tool.
Ideal for Petroleum
Exploration
Especially effective for basin identification, Xtract™ supports seismic design and interpretation where volcanic sequences mask structure.
Consistent
Data Quality
Less affected by turbulence, delivering high-quality, repeatable data across diverse geologic and environmental conditions.
High
Productivity
Minimised horizontal coupling and accurate vertical velocity mapping allows for production in a moderate turbulence window
Twin-Engine
Option Available
For projects requiring twin-engine capabilities, a Reims F406 aircraft twin-engine aircraft is available with similar flight characteristics to the Pilatus PC-6. As a turbine twin-engine aircraft, the F406 complies with safety and aviation recommendations as per IOGP 590:Aircraft Management Guidelines for operating in hostile & remote environments.
